North Battery is built.

[1643, 1644] It is located on what was then Merry’s Point and is today Battery Wharf at 379 Commercial Street. The timber and earth fort was first ordered built on January 8, 1644. It is finally constructed by residents of the area on condition that they are not assessed for other fortifications until they have been reimbursed for constructing this one.
